It’s Exodus Time!

Bible study revelations in Exodus today.

I have to admit that I have grumbled against the LORD, feeling like I’ve waited FOREVER for WHATEVER it is HE is doing in my life. So I decided to join Prophet Jolynne Whittakers ( “UNTIL YOU BLESS ME FAST’ because I felt led to struggle for mines with the LORD. Jacob DID NOT LET GOD GO UNTIL HE BLESSED HIM! I waiver often but I feel on the brink of something great in the spirit, and I wanted to FIGHT for it in submission to God!

Man, this first day was somewhat harder because I wanted to do what He wanted me to do. Not just pick the quickest or even the most convenient fast that I am able to sustain in my own ability. Today I did not eat for the first half of the day because I wanted HIM to lead me. I wanted HIS direction.

Some time around 1 or 2ish, I was reading the bible in a year word plan with my Mother from Youversion’s Bible plan. In todays lesson plan, it taught out of Exodus. Something in the scriptures jumped out at me. This caused me to go back to Exodus to read more once our plan reading was over. This is the scripture the LORD gave me!

“Moses also said, “You will know that it was the LORD when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the LORD.” “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’ ” Exodus‬ ‭16:6-12, ‭NIV snippets‬‬

I had been asking for direction all day and scripture concerning Bread in the morning (AM) and meat in the (PM) lept out at me. Finally! I know it may not seem like much to you, but it was God ordained to me. I refused to do anything, until HE directed me. I wanted what HE had for me, so I needed HIM to show me what to do. In HIS omnipotent foresight, I had bought extra Manna bread for a previous fast, and had stored in the freezer. To be honest, I had forgotten all about it…until I read this scripture! To God be the Glory. So I was able to cut myself a small piece of bread and cut my hunger sometime around midday. I was overjoyed about this. Here it was, I’d been asking the Lord to provide and He did, right out of my own kitchen!

This is significant because many times when I plan to fast, I have to go out and get a host of new things to eat. It’s costly, time consuming and can be a bit overwhelming for someone like me. I need to know how Im going to do EV-ERY-THANG!!! How the process is going to go, how I’m going to cut and store the veggies, whats the day breakdown of food, food protocol has to be in place before the fast or I will fail epically and very quickly. If the word control freak comes to mind, you are not wrong – but i digress – for everything I needed to be in T.H.I.S. house….it was a miracle for me! As minor as it might seem to you, there are no minor miracles in my book. My God provided and because HE knows and loves me, he prearranged for what I needed at this time to be here when I was ready to submit this last effort to please and entreat HIM. HE was showing me that HE can do my life way better than I can. Its a lesson I swear I’ve learned a hundred times over…yet I somehow seem to always quickly forget it again. But Praise JEHOVAH, simply letting HIM guide this day was so much easier, even if there was some major sacrifice up front! ….After some bread, and some praise and worship, I went back to the Word.

“This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer for each person you have in your tent.’  The Israelites did as they were told”…                                                        And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as thy needed.

Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.”

However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them. Exodus‬ ‭16:16-20 NIV‬‬

These verses spoke to me because it addressed an issue of lack that has been prevalent in my life. I can legitimately say that I had begun some hoarding tendencies in late 20’s that the LORD revealed to me in my brokenness. In this scripture, the LORD is reminding me that not only can HE, but HE will manage my day to day needs. He has proved this to me over and over again and today he put an emphasis on it! I run this Mahoganiejewel! I AM does NOT need your help!

It’s also interesting to note that in the above scriptures, when the Israealites listened to the word of the LORD, things went well. Each house had what they needed. When they did not listen, the things they tried to hoard ended up smelly infested with maggots AND it caused dissension, inflaming their leader to anger. Can anyone say MESSAGE! Do as HE says and all will be well, don’t do it and all WILL NOT BE WELL WITH YOU!

I also think this word (vs18) speaks to greed. As long as we take just what we need, we will all have enough.

“He said to them, “This is what the Lord commanded: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of sabbath rest, a holy sabbath to the Lord. So bake what you want to bake and boil what you want to boil. Save whatever is left and keep it until morning.’ ”” Nevertheless, some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather it, but they found none. Then the Lord said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep my commands and my instructions?” Exodus‬ ‭16:23-28‬ ‭NIV‬‬ snippets‬‬

I felt the LORD saying to me in these verses that HIS instructions are made readily available to us, you need only to open the word of God. Many times I’ve moaned about not hearing from God and not understanding what HE wants me to do, yet never thinking to crack open this book called the bible. Which I’ve heard aptly acronym’ed as B.I.B.L.E – basic instructions before leaving earth! He literally outlines the everything we need to know in here, yet we humans are continuously ignoring the directions HE gives us. Read the Word, nevertheless HIS holy people prostitute themselves with worldly concerns and pursuits instead!

“The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan.” Exodus‬ ‭16:35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I turned 40 this past October and have been feeling like I’m on the brink of transitioning to a new season for the last few months. So, I find it very interesting that the Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years and that they ate manna that entire time – before reaching the border of Canaan.

I feel the LORD revealing that I just like the Israelites the I have been in the wilderness for 40 years. HE had to work out past trauma, pain, anger, even my nervous system response…pretty much HE had to do for me what HE did for the Israelites, yet ALL THE WHILE, HE has provided for me! He never left my side (like the cloud that went before and behind God’s people through the desert) and manna (provision, grace, HIS love and forgiveness) has always appeared for me.

“The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin, traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim but there was no water for the people to drink.” Exodus‬ ‭17:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I loved how the community AS A WHOLE set out from the Desert of Sin! I declare and decree that God’s people are coming out of the desert of Sin IN UNITY, AS A CONNECTED COMMUNITY by the mighty name of Jesus, amen amen amen!

Here it mentions that they came to and camped at a place called Rephidim, which literally means rest or stays, YET they had no water to drink. I now understand that God wants us to drink of the well of his truth as often as possible, and HE represents himself as the living water frequently throughout scripture. So I sense that this verse may be alluding to the fact that while they came to a resting place, it was not a place for them to camp out. This place, which seemed to come right before breakthrough, may have seemed nice and comfortable – enjoyable even – was not a place the LORD wanted them to settle in, thus no resources to sustain them living there!

The absence of water could also signify that they had to PREPARE to come higher in their walk with Christ because the obstacles in the promised land were going to require every bit of faith they had! Giants would be in the land they were inheriting and they had to be strong enough in mind and heart to advance on those squatters!

Nevertheless, it should have highlighted to them their changing relationship with God. Israel had depended on God, yet complained all the while. They were infants still needing signs and miracles to speak to their fears and soften their cries. If they were to step into the promise land, their mental outlook had to shift. They had to grow up! They could not take the victimhood mentality they previously lived with into the promise land, otherwise they would taint it!

“He said, “Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭17:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Amalekites were considered enemies of the Israelites. So I take this passage to mean that the LORD will be at war with the enemies of God’s people from generation to generation! We do NOT have to war alone. It’s not even our fight! All we are expected to do it STAND and DECLARE THE WORD OF THE LORD….and the enemy is DEFEATED IN JESUS NAME AMEN AMEN AMEN!

If any thing, we should remember during difficulties, that the enemy of our souls is not necessarily fighting us, he may be attacking us, but ultimately he is attacking GOD. Since he can not stand up to, and knows he will lose any battle with the LORD, he instead makes war on God’s beloveds.

So when you are attacked, remind the enemy, that its ok. You don’t fight your battles anyway, the LORD YOU GOD does and HE WHO REIGNS WILL WIN IT ALL!!! This should settle your spirit as well as cause the devil to flee as you stand on the word of GOD!
